AILET

The All-India Law Entrance Test (AILET) is the most important law exam after CLAT. This exam is conducted once every year by the National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi). It was established in 2008 and is a premier law university in the country.

AILET exam facilitates admission into law colleges that encourage students who wish to pursue undergraduate (LLB), post-graduate (LLM), and doctorate (Ph.D. law) courses in law.
The colleges which accept the AILET scores are known as AILET colleges.

10+2 or equivalent examination with minimum 45% aggregate marks (40% in case of SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities).

Candidates appearing for their 10+2 exam can also apply for the UG program.

Syllabus :-

The syllabus of AILET is on the same lines as that of CLAT. The important topics of each subject are as follows.

English

Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Foreign Words/Phrases, Para-jumbles, Vocabulary, spelling, Inference-based questions, Synonyms, Antonyms, Word Usage, and Fill in the blanks

General Knowledge :

The questions asked in the GK section are from two domains i.e. Static GK and current GK. Static GK questions are questions from History, Geography, Civics, etc. while Current GK covers major events in news for the past 1 year. Major topics are international events, UN bodies’ Major developments in the areas of sports, geopolitics and important environmental agreements, eminent
personalities, sports, awards, and honours.

Legal Aptitude :

The paper consists of the main question which is reasoning based and students are not required to possess any prior knowledge of the law.
The AILET committee says that no reasoning-based questions will be asked without legal principles being given. But sometimes, in past papers, Legal GK- based questions have also been given. Students who thoroughly prepare from all usual areas such as Torts, Contracts, and Criminal and Constitutional law should fare well in this section. Major topics are Vicarious Liability, Strict Liability, International Law, Intellectual Property Rights, and Legal Awareness covering Constitutional Law and Polity.

Logical Reasoning:

The Logical reasoning section has a fair mix of Puzzles, Directions, Seating Arrangements, Blood Relations, Syllogisms, Series, Analogies etc. The Paper also has a few questions of Critical Reasoning.

Mathematics :

In this section, knowledge of elementary Mathematics, that is, Maths taught up to Class X will be tested. The section has questions from topics like Number System, Profit, and Loss, Ratio and Proportion, Percentage, Geometry, Mensuration, Simple and Compound Interest, Probability, etc.
